2024 Spring Registration

With the New Year upon us the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League is happy to announce that registration for the upcoming spring 2024 season is now open.

Registration was available to 2023 spring & summer members for the month of December therefore we only have a limited number of spots remaining.

We will continue to offer a local league ball hockey experience.

There are no residency rules in place therefore you may register where the schedule suits you best.

  • Barrie – Thursday Evenings (Eastview Arena, East Bayfield Arena)
  • Bradford – Tuesday Evenings (Bradford District Community Centre)
  • Essa – Thursday Evenings (Thornton Arena)
  • Innisfil – Sunday (Innisfil Rec Centre, Stroud Arena)

Please note that when selecting a home centre, you are agreeing to playing 80% of your regular season games on the day and arena’s you’ve selected. The remaining 20% of regular season games you’d travel to the opposing centre on their day of play and arenas. This could be a maximum of 3 travel games.

We are offering the following divisions.

  • U6 – Innisfil (2018-2019)
  • U6 – Barrie (2018-2019)
  • U8 – (2016-2017)
  • U10 – (2014-2015)
  • U12 – (2012-2013)
  • U14 – (2010-2011)
  • U16 – (2008-2009)
  • U18 – (2006-2007)

Unfortunately to ensure we meet requirements with our equalization policy we do not offer friend requests. In early April all players will be assessed through evaluations and drafted onto teams by our selected coaches. Siblings registered in the same divisions will be placed on the same team.

The season will commence on April 16th and end on June 23rd however this year we have changed our championship weekend from a 3-day double elimination bracket tournament to a 4-day triple elimination tournament beginning on June 20th.

Fees for our:

  • U6 (Learn to Play) division - $130 per player (includes t-shirt style jersey and baseball cap)
  • U8 through U18 divisions - $230 per player (includes full sublimated uniforms)

Included with the registration are the following:

  • Membership fees
  • Player insurance
  • Online statistics
  • Weekly and year end awards
  • Championship day tournament (minimum 3 games)
  • Pizza, snacks and drinks on final day.

Registration will remain open until a division is full.

We are currently at 85% capacity however later next week we hope to have additional floor time open up in Innisfil and Barrie. This will reduce our capacity to roughly 70%.

2022 Season Update

Every year the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League thrives to meet previous season registration numbers with always the hope for growth.

After being away for two years with COVID restrictions our league along with many others find themselves in a decline. The reason for this remains unknown but after discussing with several nearby sports its seems that this expands outside of ball hockey as well.

The season is set to begin on May 1st and some of our divisions may begin with smaller rosters than where we would like to see them. Please note that every team will have enough uniforms to have a full roster therefore if you have a friend that would like to join the team after we get started, they can do so by registering online and notifying the league on which team they would like to join.

Because of the decline in less registered players the league had no choice but to change its schedule format from 80% home games to 70%

Innisfil will continue to play Sunday’s, Bradford on Tuesday’s and Barrie on Thursday’s

Schedules are posted online and will be accessible from the TeamLinkt app once your child is place on a team.

Most children have been placed on teams for the exception of Innisfil players registered in the U8, U10 & U12 divisions.

We hope to have this done later this week.

We were told that our uniforms would arrive for opening day however after discussing with our supplier overseas they believe that there could be a delay with shipping due to the ongoing war happening in the Ukraine.

The league does have a backup plan if these problems should arise to get us through the first couple of games.

Provincial try-outs this year will begin in late May however due to the lack of available floor time it could be possible that these would take place in Innisfil on a Wednesday or Friday evening. We should have information regarding this once the season gets going.

Please ensure that all players are equipped with proper equipment. This includes a hockey helmet with full facial cage, hockey gloves, soccer style shin guards, running shoes and a hockey stick with no plastic blade. A failure to have any of the above-mentioned items will have the player sidelined until he/she can provide all mandatory equipment.

Lastly and most importantly

The South Simcoe Ball Hockey Leagues still requires coaches in the following areas:

  • U10 – Bradford
  • U12 – Innisfil
  • U14 – Barrie
  • U17 – Innisfil

Until these voluntary positions are taken, we cannot proceed to move forward. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Adult Ball Hockey

Men's & Women's Ball Hockey will return to South Simcoe in Spring 2022.

Currently we are offering the following divisions however this could change based on demand
  • Men's 'D'
  • Men's 'C'
  • Women's

The season will run from late April too late July.

Team managers are required to reach out to us with details pertaining to your team. We will then provide you an access code to your roster for directions on registration.

Team managers and registered rostered players will then be able to see the progress of the season using our TeamLinkt app.
Each team is required to have a minimum 14 players and a maximum 20 players ($180 per player)

For an additional cost if required we can supply custom uniforms.

The season will consist of
  • 13 regular season games + playoffs
  • OBHF certified officials
  • All games indoor (Innisfil or Thornton)
  • Full online player and team statistics
  • Awards
  • Qualify for OBHF Provincials

More information will be made available in the new year. Registration will commence in early February

Coaching Incentive

Ball Hockey is a sport that requires many volunteers however as the league continues to grow we want to ensure that all our teams are equipped with certified head coaches. This will ensure that all our players have equal opportunity when it comes to leadership behind the bench.

The league will still accept applications from anyone wishing to coach however only those that are certified will receive first opportunity to take on a team and benefit from this cash incentive.

Player fees must be paid in full upon registration however those selected to coach the 2019 season will receive a refund of $80 once the season gets on it way.

If you are interested in applying for a coaching position please click here

Thank You
