With the New Year upon us the South Simcoe Ball Hockey League is happy to announce that registration for the upcoming spring 2024 season is now open.

Registration was available to 2023 spring & summer members for the month of December therefore we only have a limited number of spots remaining.

We will continue to offer a local league ball hockey experience.

There are no residency rules in place therefore you may register where the schedule suits you best.

  • Bradford – Tuesday Evenings (Bradford District Community Centre)
  • Essa – Thursday Evenings (Thornton Arena)
  • Innisfil – Sunday (Innisfil Rec Centre, Stroud Arena)

Please note that when selecting a home centre, you are agreeing to playing 80% of your regular season games on the day and arena’s you’ve selected. The remaining 20% of regular season games you’d travel to the opposing centre on their day of play and arenas. This could be a maximum of 3 travel games.

The season will commence on April 16th and end on June 23rd however this year we have changed our championship weekend from a 3-day double elimination bracket tournament to a 4-day triple elimination tournament beginning on June 20th.

What a better way to improve your hockey skills in the off-season with the best dry land training the game has to offer.

The South Simcoe Ball Hockey League uses full indoor city rinks and runs its season from mid April to late June.

We are the only league that is registered as a NOT FOR PROFIT organization in the city and are currently proud members of the OBHF (Ontario Ball Hockey Federation).

We are also the only league that is recognized by the OHF (Ontario Hockey Federation) and Hockey Canada and has the support of BMHA (Barrie Minor Hockey Association)

Players enrolled in our program will increase their ability to read the play while developing stick handling creativity. They will improve on their hand-eye coordination while building strength and increasing their cardio ability.

We currently offer the following co-ed divisions

  • U7 – 2014-2015 (Innisfil Only)
  • U9 – 2012-2013
  • U11 – 2010-2011
  • U13 – 2008-2009

Early Bird Registration

Start making your plans now for the 2019 ball hockey season. Register by December 26 to take advantage of early-bird savings of $40.

This year we have made a few changes and registration will close on April 1st. This will allow us to have all members come out for player evaluation to ensure teams are balanced properly.

When registering you have a choice on where to play your home games. (Barrie, Bradford or Innisfil) Please note that your registration fees cover only the home games and that all travel games are free of charge. So if by chance you cannot attend one of the travel games because of conflict with another sport or activity you won’t be losing out.

  • Barrie – Tuesday’s and Thursday’s (depending on division)
  • Bradford – Tuesday’s
  • Innisfil – Sunday’s

(More info regarding days and times to be posted in the New Year)

The season will run from mid-April to late-June.

We will be offering incentives for those wishing to register as full time goalies and certified ice hockey coaches willing to take on a team. Information regarding this will be posted in the New Year after our board meeting on January 7th.

At this time payments can be sent by cheque or etransfer. An email will be sent out to you with further instructions after registering. If you don’t receive an email please contact our administrator Jennifer at This email address is being protected from spambots.
